The Open Source Physics (OSP) website distributes curricular material for computational physics and for physics education at all levels.   This website contains source code, documentation, and ready-to-use examples.  In particular, it includes programs described in the following books:

Ready to use (compiled) versions of OSP programs are distributed in Java archive (jar) files located in the  binary directory of this website.  Double-clicking on a Java archive will execute a Java program if the file system browser associates the "jar" extension with the Java virtual machine. Note that these same Java programs can also be run as applets.  These applets are available in the Applets and Applications  and the Projects and Packages sections of this website.

Numerous authors and curriculum developers have contributed material to the Open Source Physics project and a selection of this material is available on this website in the packages directory. 

The projects directory contains links to OSP-author and OSP-developer websites. Consult these websites to obtain additional curricular material the most recent software.

Curriculum authors and developers are encouraged to send us links to their OSP projects and these projects will be listed on the Open Source Physics website:

You are free to use Open Source Physics source code or compiled programs consistent with the GNU GPL license, but please note that the narratives of books and manuals associated with OSP code are usually copyrighted by the respective authors and/or publishers.  Source code for Open Source Physics programs is available from the OSP Developer website.
