Financial Support

The generous support of the American Physical Society Forum on Education, the American Physical Society Division of Computational Physics, and the American Association of Physics Teachers allows us to support junior faculty and students wishing to attend the 2008 Physics Research and Education GRC.   Faculty and students should send a single packet containing all supporting documentation to:

Junior Faculty

The Conference Chair's will award 1/2 registration support ($385) for up to 8 junior faculty within 4 years of their first full-time teaching position but no more than 6 years of receiving their PhD.  Award selection will be based on:

The above criteria will be given equal weight.  A brief one-page CV is also required. 

Post-docs and students

The Conference Chair's will award 1/2 registration support ($385) for up to 16 post-docs, graduate students, and undergraduate students.  Award selection will be based on:

Society of Physics Students

The Society of Physics Students (SPS) will award full registration support ($770) and reimbursement of reasonable travel expenses to two undergraduate SPS students who are willing to provide written reports of their participation in this Gordon Conference.  Award selection will be based on:

The letter of recommendation is required.  All other criteria will be given equal weight.  SPS advisors should send a single packet containing all supporting documentation to:

Scientist from Developing Nations

Nature Publishing Group (NPG) will for the third year be distributing its NPG Awards in support of participants from developing countries at Gordon Research Conferences (GRCs).
 
NPG provides funds to help defray travel and registration expenses. Awards of up to $1,500 will be made available to support participants who meet the eligibility criteria. Only those who meet the requirements in the NPG application can be nominated for support.
